Great Job with Fire Drill!

Thank you for doing such a wonderful job on the fire drill this afternoon.

We completed our drill in 6 minutes and 49 seconds!   This included evacuating the building in 46 seconds.  Great job!

I appreciate how well our students did outside.

Thank you.

K8 Monday Memo

Happy Monday Morning,

It was wonderful to have a long break to relax, connect with family, and just reflect on all for which we have to be thankful.  The next three weeks are going to fly by with lots of excitement!  Please invite me into your classroom to observe any special teaching and learning as I am continuing with routine walk-throughs to gather evidence for summative evaluations.

K8 Monday Memo

As we come up Thanksgiving, I think of the appreciation and gratitude to a few people I celebrated this last weekend. On Saturday, our community celebrated the life of Tim Goad. It was repeated several times at his memorial that heaven got a little louder. Indeed it has! We will remember Tim for his roaring laughter and loving community spirit. On Sunday, my siblings and I hosted a 50th-anniversary celebration for my parents. It was wonderful to see old friends and family members gather to celebrate their enduring love.

As you observe this Thanksgiving, please take time to share your appreciation to those who support, love, and encourage you!

Parent Conference

Conferences are one of the most important family connections in your classroom and help promote positive outcomes for students. Below are some key points for your conferences:

  1. Create a welcoming environment.

  2. Open with positives.

  3. Discuss progress and growth.

    1. Progress Report

    2. Test Data

  4. Watch your language…define educational language.

  5. Ask questions and listen.

  6. Make a plan.

  7. Share District Forms:

    1. Race- Ethnicity Data

    2. Free and Reduced

      1. One per household

      2. Needed to maintain free meal program

      3. Helps with district grants.

    3. Family ID

      1. Complete at school

      2. Conference Room / Hallway

Additionally, please reach out to any families who may not have yet confirmed a conference with you. Then, by the end of today, please share with me a photocopy of your finalized parent-conference schedule.

Staff Meeting Agenda Links:

Thank you for gathering for our staff meeting last week. I am committed to being prepared and ready to make the most of our time when we meet. Would you please help by being on time and actively present in the meeting? Here is the link to our rolling agenda: tinyurl.com/sk821

TPEP Goals:

I like the direction that the elementary and middle schools are going with your TPEP goals. Would you please review your notes from our last two TPEP meetings and connect with your team to wrap up your TPEP goals? I will be meeting with Mr. Spear to share and review the goals when we get back from the Thanksgiving Break. Please let me know if you would like to meet with me to review or finish your TPEP goals.

Monday Memo

Good Monday Morning!

Thank you for all your hard work last week.  It was exciting to see our high school volleyball team take 6th place at state!  Additionally, the cafeteria supervision team met to review our lunch protocol and work on improving the lunchtime climate.  I enjoyed seeing the various Veterans Day class activities...and of course, the great teaching and learning.  Keep up the great work and let's make this another great week.

Staff Meeting Time

Please be sure to submit the staff meeting time survey. Once we have a selected day, we will start with staff meetings on each month's 1st and 3rd day chosen. This week will be our first staff meeting. Please complete the survey by the end of today: https://forms.gle/P9FknuWK6piohVqU6

Sick Days

Thank you for transitioning to using the blue sheets. Please continue to call or text Tammy and me with unplanned sick days and then submit the blue sheet when you return. If you stay home due to illness, we need to make sure to follow the Symptom Decision Tree protocol. Please see the link below. Chanel and Sheri will help navigate the flowchart and can assist with testing.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conferences are just around the corner. The office will print and share the progress reports and MAP Student Profile report for you to share with families. The Student Profile report is a MAP report that gives a picture of a student's growth and performance. Of course, this will only be available to students who completed the MAP testing. I have shared this report with several parents and they have found it exceptionally helpful. Please take a look at a sample report: https://dpdol.nwea.org/public/growth/GR_SampleStudentProfile.pdf

There will be additional information that will need to be shared with families. We will discuss conferences at our staff meeting this week.

Cafeteria

Thank you to everyone who is helping in the cafeteria at lunch.  The new routine and setup are really working well.  Would you please help our students be more successful in the cafeteria by pausing at the front doors to gain students' composure and help focus students before entering the cafeteria? This small act is really helping.   It has been exceptionally helpful having the classroom teachers pick up their class at the end of lunch too!  Again, thank you to everyone for helping.

Monday Memo

Nov. 8th

Thank you to everyone who helped our students and peers as we all grieved the loss of Tim. Last week was a tough week, and this week will continue to be challenging. Please know that MWSD and ESD counseling and support staff are readily available as we begin our healing journey. Additionally, several individuals within our school and community are reaching out to support the family. Please see Tammy or me if you would like help. Tim's memorial will be on November 20th in our district. Tim's care, cheer, and laughter in our halls is missed!

HS Volleyball

It is so exciting to see our high school girls and coaches head to the state tournament for volleyball. They certainly have earned the reward for their hard work and dedication. It is exciting to see Audrey, Macey, Kylie, and Coach Gine honored for the All-Opponent team. Great job, lady chargers!

Family Contacts for Conferences

Please be sure to reach out to families who have not responded to the conference letters. We want to make sure to connect with every family for fall conferences. A simple call or email would help out loads.

TPEP Observations and iObservation

So far, I have completed two formal observations. I enjoyed the pre- and post-observation meetings with each teacher and thoroughly enjoyed seeing each teacher working with their students. I will be conducting two formal observations with each staff member this school year. Generally, I attempt to get one formal observation each semester.

Informal Observations are my routine pop-ins or walk-throughs. These occur both inside and outside of the classroom. I will be documenting the informal observations in a program called iobservation. Please watch for emails from iObservation.

Marzano Instruction Framework

As I walk through classrooms over the next few weeks, I will be looking for and documenting evidence for Criterion 1.1; providing clear learning goals and scales.  Please see the possible teacher evidence on the chart below.  For additional information on the Marzano Instructional Framework visit:
