There are a few teachers who I have not yet gotten into their classrooms.  I will be connecting directly with you to schedule this observation.  A few have not logged into your iobservation account.  Please login in as a 'first time user' at: https://login.effectiveeducators.com/idp/Authn/UserPassword

Report Card Mailing

Report cards, family MAP reports, and our attendance policy has been mailed home to families.  Additionaly, I am in the process of emailing each teacher a PDF copy of the MAP family reports.  The files are larger than expected and loading slow!

PBIS Staff Meeting

On Friday our K8 team will come together to review our PBIS posters, incentives, and plan out our re-teaching of the expectations.  This staff meeting is for all: certificated and classified staff.

Duty Schedule

Over the last month, we have had several students moved into our district with extensive IEPs that require increased para support.  On Friday, Mandy, Tammy and I meet with all the paras to review each of their daily schedules.  The goal is to maximize classroom support and intervention; however, we also have a need to maintain adequate supervision. As shared in Feb. 2nd email with the subject 'Recess SOS,' teachers are needed to help maintain supervision.    Below are the assigned duties:

Teacher Duty

K/1st Grade Teahcer - Breakfast Duty

2-5th Grade Teacher - AM Recess (approx. 10AM)

6-8th Grade Teacher - Mask Break and AM Bathroom Hall Roation

Additionally, it has been exceptionally helpful to have teachers help pick up students outside in the morning!

Happy Valentines! I look forward to seeing the elementary classroom celebration and the budding middle school 'relationships.'  :)  Please stop by the front office for a 'latte' and chocolate treat! Thank you for all the love you share with our students.

Blue Slips Updates

As you complete the blue leave sheets, please be sure to document non-concurrent days of absence on separate forms. Additionally, all certificated staff needs to document leave as 8 hours. Classified staff needs to do so according to their PAR. Generally, this is 6.5 hours for most classified staff.

This Friday is our next Strategic Planning meeting. This week we will be breaking down into groups. I am looking forward to the committee work.

Four-Day Week Survey

The district will be sending out a digital link to the four-day school week survey this week. Please encourage your families to complete this survey.

Unscheduled Fire Drill per Student Pull

Today at approximately 12:44 PM, we had a sixth-grade student pull the fire alarm by the middle school bathrooms. I texted the certificated staff at 12:47 PM to share that the alarm resulted from a student pull. Our entire building was evacuated and checked by 12:49 PM; all students were back into the school by 12:52 PM.

I greatly appreciate everyone's help and cooperation with the issues.

Please note that this student will be working in the solution room for the remainder of the week. The parent was exceptionally supportive and helpful in this situation.

Purposeful People/Character Stong

This month's character trait is Honesty. There are very engaging 20-minute lessons on the Character Strong website for each grade level. Please take a look. Additionally, I will be posting some resources on the bulletin board outside of my office and placing some fliers in your mailbox. Several teachers have shared that their students have really gotten involved in the lessons.

Recess SOS

K8 Classified and Certified Staff,

Our current duty schedule has excluded certificated staff from assigned supervision roles. I know that many of you have still stepped forward to help with breakfast duty, morning lineup, recess, and other areas!   Additionally, it has been exceptionally helpful to have teachers help pick up students outside in the morning! Thank you! I greatly appreciate the team spirit.

Due to some new enrollments that require assigned para-support, we need to make certificated staff duties a bit more formal.

Our current duty schedule utilizes classified staff to cover morning recess/lineup and lunchtime duties. We will keep this duty schedule covered but need certificated staff to help with AM and PM recesses and middle school mask breaks. Starting on Thursday, February 3rd, please work with your hallway team to maintain adequate supervision (≥2 adults) during all recess times.

As a school, one of our number one goals is to maintain a safe and secure environment during all segments of the school day. As we review our discipline data, we can see that a great majority of our serious discipline issues occur during transitions and recess time, yet, this tends to be a time that we continue to struggle to have adequate coverage.

I appreciate everyone's help in fixing this situation.

As we work on student safety, please...

  1. be an active supervisor,
  2. be to your duty on time, and
  3. be understanding and helpful when we are short staff.

Have a great night! See you in the morning.

Brett
