What a great weekend to remember those who gave all for our liberties and freedom. I hope that everyone found some time to relax and play a little too. Things are going to get busy during these last two weeks of school. I appreciate your help with the various activities.
Important Safety Reminders
Please increase your situational awareness around the school.
Ensure that every student has a trusted adult to talk to who will listen.
Keep all exterior access points locked and closed
Secure interior doors. At a minimum, all classroom doors need to be locked, and easily securable. It is preferred that they are locked and closed.
All visitors need to enter through our front office's controlled access point and must sign in. This includes high school aids, volunteers, and community partners.
Remember: "See something" that doesn't seem right, "say something" and report it. This includes social media. Report to school leadership and/or law enforcement.
Field Trips
Great job organizing and leading your classroom field trips. It was wonderful to connect with the 5th-grade field trip at Camp Gifford. One of our more challenging students expressed to me that we needed to start the year with a field trip like Camp Gifford because "we learned to work as a team." On Thursday, the middle school team will be heading out on their chosen field trips to Camp Gifford, Hiawatha Trail, Copper Bowl. I will be out this day.
MAP Testing
Please work with your teaching partner/team to coordinate and implement your MAP testing.
HIV/Human Growth and Development
In the first week of June, Nurse Sherri will be presenting the HIV and Human Growth and Develop videos for our 5th-8th grade students. Please make sure all opt-out letters have the students name on them and are logged into the opt-out sheet on the google document as soon as they are returned (see Nurse Sherri's Email).
Friday, June 3rd (9:00 AM), is the HIV viewing for 6-8th Grade in the MS assembly.
Monday, June 6th (1:30 PM), Human Growth and Development for 6th-grade classes. This will be completed in two gender-specific classrooms.
