K8 Weekly Memo

Last week was full of incredible moments worth celebrating — from our Earth Day clean-up projects, to our teachers' hard work during LETRS training, to the energy and excitement of our Charger Assemblies. Your dedication to our students shines brightly in everything you do!

As we head into this week and make our final preparations for state testing, let's continue to encourage and uplift all of our students, reminding them to give their very best.

Thank you for the heart and effort you bring every day. Have a wonderful week — I look forward to seeing you and your students in action!

Points of Interest

Time Sheets  – Action Needed

Please submit your timesheets by May 1st. This will help Ann process payroll smoothly and get your checks out on time. Thanks for taking care of this early!

State Testing  – Action Needed

State testing season is just around the corner!

  • Middle School begins testing next week.

  • Grades 3–5 will kick off testing on May 12th.

This final week is our last opportunity to prepare our students:

  • Help them feel comfortable with the testing platform.

  • Familiarize them with question formats.

  • Encourage them to use the embedded tools thoughtfully.

Also, remind students to use pencil and paper during testing — working out math problems, sketching mind maps for writing, and jotting notes for reading are critical strategies for success!

Thank you for all the time and energy you've invested to help our Chargers feel confident and ready!

Covert Dress Up Days  – Action Needed

Get ready to add some extra spirit to our week with Covert Dress-Up Days! Let's show off our creativity and teamwork — can't wait to see everyone join in!

  • Monday: Men in Black – Dress in black and rock those sunglasses like a secret agent!

  • Tuesday: Beach/Lake Day – Break out your beach hats, sunglasses, and tropical vibes!

  • Wednesday: Anything but a Cup – Get creative with how you carry your drinks... anything goes (except a cup)! 😂

  • Thursday: Neon Day – Brighten up the building with your boldest, brightest neon outfits!

Let's make it a fun week full of laughter, school spirit, and great memories!

Computer Checks  – Action Needed

Before testing starts, please review your classroom devices to ensure they are in good working order. If you spot any issues, notify Mike right away so he can assist. He's been hard at work making sure all devices are updated and test-ready — let's help him finish strong by double-checking our tech!

FastBridge – Action Needed

The Primary Team will begin their FastBridge testing next week.  As you prepare, please make sure you refresh on screening procedures either by revisiting the training videos or referring questions to the knowledge base in the upper left corner of the home page. Darci can also assist with questions.

Please work to complete the following testing in your classroom.

It's hard to believe that May is just around the corner! The LETRS training last week was so amazing. I'm thankful we had some in the MTSS room Thursday afternoon for me to share some LETRS strategies with the MTSS ladies!

Thursday after school is our Page Ahead Book Fair. The first round will be right after school at 3:45 and the second round at 5:15. Kiddos who can't attend the fair will get an opportunity to pick out their books next week. I can't wait to watch our kindergarteners through second graders pick out 12 books to take home for summer reading!

I hope you all had a joyful Easter weekend filled with meaningful moments with family and friends. It was wonderful to see the communities in our area come together through various celebrations—and what a great reminder of the connection we share beyond the walls of our school.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the Book Fair and Carnival such a success! It was so special to see our learning community gathered for a fun-filled, family-centered evening. These moments build the heart of our school.

Our LID day was incredibly productive—and a big shoutout to the primary team for kicking things off with an amazing chicken and waffle breakfast! I also want to express my appreciation to Mrs. Ashbrook (Classroom Data), Mrs. Moss (Focus IAB Data), Ms. Gintz (K-8 Groups), and Ms. Zollman (MTSS) for leading thoughtful, informative presentations. Your time, preparation, and leadership are truly valued.

I'm excited to visit classrooms this week and see our students in action. As we gear up for SBAC testing, please take time to review the testing tools and Focus IAB resources. If you need any help accessing or using the SBAC materials, don’t hesitate to reach out—I'm here to support you.

PLC Focus for the Week

As you meet with your PLC this week, please bring your classroom formative data along with the Assessment Analysis Tool. Your data will guide meaningful conversations around student needs and instructional planning.

Thank you for your continued commitment to collaborative growth and student success!  Here is the TACA protocols to support your discussion and keep the focus on student learning:

Earth Day

If your class is participating in an Earth Day project or off-campus walking activity, please ensure all field trip permission slips are returned and that the Earth Day memo has been sent home. Also, don’t forget to check in with Bailey before leaving the building. Thank you for providing students the chance to give back through meaningful service learning experiences.

Spring Picture Day

Today is class picture day! We’d love to have all staff in the group photo at 7:45 AM sharp. It will be a quick shot—please meet in the gym, smile for the camera, and then head right out to your morning duties.

MTSS News

I hope everyone had a very blessed Easter with their family!

I’m looking forward to another busy week! It was great to visit with K-2 teachers on Friday and get some specifics on where you are headed instructional wise and a focus on what to work with specific students on! In our 3-5 groups we will be including test taking strategies in our groups to help prepare for them for the season of testing.

I will be out Tuesday with the majority of the K-3 teachers for LETRS training and Thursday morning for an appointment.

Have a great week everyone!
