Happy Monday Morning,
What a lovely fall weekend. It seems like the race is on to get ready for winter; roadwork, firewood, and outbuilding work were my priorities over the weekend. I also enjoyed several great hikes. I hope that everyone found some time to rest and relax over the last two days.
Last week was sure a busy week. I am thankful for the three-day weekend before us. Let's have a great week!
COVID Report
This week we continue to have several students out of school due to COVID. Please be sure to create homework packets and contact parents if you have students out on quarantine or isolation. One of our top district goals is to build caring and supportive connections with all families and students in quarantine or isolation.
State Vaccination Mandate
October 18th is the deadline for the state vaccination mandate. Our district's upcoming due dates include the medical exemption by October 4th, the religious by October 12th, and verification of vaccination by October 12th.
Homework Folder - ACTION NEEDED
At our staff meeting on Friday, we talked about having a master homework packet for each grade level in the office. This could be compared to having an emergency sub plan ready. Would you please review your curriculum and standards and create a master packet for five days of activities for the four core subjects of each grade level.
Strategies to help could include:
- Pulling some intervention lessons from Wonders
- Gathering additional practice sheets from Eureka or illustrative mathematics
- Printing off an unassigned power focus from Summit
- Picking a lesson or activity from an old springboard workbook.
Kitchen Help
Thank you to all the individuals who have stepped forward to ensure that our food service program continues to stay afloat! This will be another busy week in the kitchen. Please give a big thank you to Mel, Bea, Tammy, Christine, Todd, Sham, and all the other individuals who are stepping forward to help. THANK YOU!
New Enrollments
We have eight, possibly nine, students enrolling this week. Please give them a heartfelt welcome and try to reach out to parents.
PBIS
Friday's breakfast meeting was a great success. As we relaunch PBIS, our first goal is to review and revise the student handbooks and then present them to all students by the third week of October.
We will also be:
- Reviewing previous PBIS action plan
- Establishing playground zones
- Shareouting and using the referral form
- Creating hall signs
- Attending the January PBIS Training
State Testing
Starting next week, we will start administering the Smarter Balanced ELA and math in grades 4–8. The WCAS will be administered in the 6th grade. I'll be meeting with our new teachers to review the testing protocols. Additionally, Mike will check to make sure our devices and network are ready for testing.
You can learn more about state testing at:
