Monday Memo

And before we knew it, it was the week before our Christmas Break. It is so exciting to see the spirit of Christmas in our school. Thank you for making this a special time in the year for our students. Please continue to keep an eye on our students during this holiday time, as we know it can be hard for some!.

Social-Emotional Support

Our student support team(Bryce, Emily, Sheri, and Erin) is readily available to help our students navigate all sorts of challenges and struggles that they may be experiencing. Friday was an exceptionally challenging day for Emily Spenser, our high school counselor. She did a fantastic job reaching out to our local resources in order to make sure one of our students received the help they needed!  Thank you, Emily!

Naughty Elf

Mrs. Mundall's class sought some help last week with a wild little elf in their classroom. I stepped in to help and give the elf an ISS in my office for writing on the floor. The little guy broke out over the night and found his way back to Mrs. Mundalls classroom. Fortunately, he got snagged up by his big, little head as he tried to climb back into the second-grade classroom. Thank you, Mrs. Mundall, for taking some time to have fun with your students.

K8 Monday Memo

It was beautiful to see the return of winter this weekend.  The fresh snow and cold days really engaged the Christmas spirit at our home.  We had fun decorating and shopping for our most favorite time of the year.

The holidays are joy-filled celebrations with family and friends for many of us.  Sadly, this is not the case for all of our students. Last Monday, I was reminded of this when a deputy sheriff stopped by the school while investigating a domestic violence case from Thanksgiving Day. It was heartbreaking to hear the young student retell the violence from their holiday.  It was so sad to listen to the student share three other horrific accounts of the hospitalizing violence that this student has endured in their young life.

I know how caring and protective you are of our students. Frequently, your classrooms are the safest place for our students to be!  Thank you for creating warm and safe places for our kids.

Here are a few links to articles that highlight how the holiday season can affect students and include tips on what we can do to be more supportive:

Staff Christmas Stockings

Please see your email from last week and signup for this fun stocking tradition in the office.

New Staff

This week we have two new staff members joining our team!

Erin Wilson will be our Student Assistant Professional.

Katrina Hanlan will be a middle school para.

Please give them a warm welcome as you see them in the halls!

Appreciation

Tammy and Mandy collectively worked to complete the Camper Awards for our elementary assembly!  Thank you, your dedication and help is appreciated by all.

It's a winter wonderland in the hallways.  Thank you, Nicole, for your amazing creativity and dedication.

Nina continues to cover for Ms. Smith, a tough act to follow.  Thank you for your continued support!

Please share your appreciation for the four as you see them throughout the week.

Outside Safety

We had an eager middle school student trip and broke their arm as they raced in for lunch last week.  Would you please remind our students to be careful on our slick sidewalks?

Safety Drills

Last week, with the help of a preschooler, we managed to complete our November and December safety drills!
