Weekly Memo: September 2

Happy first Friday. Thank you for making this week so special and fun for our students. It was great seeing all the smiling faces in our school this week. I appreciate the dedication and commitment that everyone has made in building healthy routines and procedures that support our learning environment. Please stay committed to building consistency for our kids.

Week two brings in our pre-k and kindergarten. This will add a whole new dimension of excitement to our school! Let's all keep a watchful eye on these little ones.

I hope everyone has an excellent weekend, and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

-Brett

GOOD READS

POINTS OF INTEREST

Securing Building

Please lock your classroom door and close all exterior windows at the end of each day. Additionally, all exterior doors must be pulled shut and locked each day.

Staff Absence Policy

Pre-Planned Absence: Please use the newly revised blue Employee Absence Report sheet for any planned absences. Sub-coverage is available on a first-come basis; therefore, it would be exceptionally beneficial to submit your blue sheet as soon as possible.

Calling in Sick: Please call or text all "sick day" calls to my work cell phone number (509.919.0538). These calls need to be made as soon as possible each morning.

Student Drop off and Pickup for Prep

Elementary teachers, please be sure to drop your kids off at their daily specialist time each day. It would be good for you to transition there three to five minutes prior to the special class starting. The classes that start the prep with recess will be delivered to the specialist by the recess monitor.

Additionally, please pick your students up from recess or the specialist room at the end of your prep. Your total prep period is 45 minutes.

Boomerang Folder

Thank you for implementing the Boomerang Folders. Please be sure to send this folder out each week. Your classroom memo/newsletter and graded work are quick and easy items to include in the folders.

Parking in Back

Please park in the front parking lot rather than the back lot! The maintenance department will be keeping the back gate locked.

Bus Routes

The 2022-23 STEP Transportation document highlights all bus riders' routes, times, and contact information.

Team Collaboration Time

This week will be our first collaboration time. Please be sure to share the day and time your team will be meeting each week. This needs to be the same date and time from week to week.

Primary Team: ??

Intermediate Team: ??

Middle School Team: Tuesday @ 7:30

As your team meets this week, review your routines, daily schedule, and the curriculum outline for ELA. Summit Learning and Wonders have an online planning tool that allows you to spread out the scope and sequence for the school year. Please take a look at these resources.

Technology Needs

How are your technology needs coming along? Are your classroom Chromebook, laptop, or iPad carts working well? Please email Mike and me with your technology needs.

Wonders Curriculum

Set up Wizard calendar to assist with pacing. Please keep the calendar established as a five-day week, as the curriculum is developed as a review day.

Lunch Rosters

Ms. Kat has shared the grade-level paper rosters for the elementary lunches. Please work with your partner teacher to highlight the students who eat breakfast and lunch. These must be turned into the cafeteria when your students go to lunch.

Kindergarten Lunch

To help with your Primary Lunch, the kindergarten class will head to the cafeteria at 12:10PM for lunch.

Morning Snack

Starting Tuesday, Kat will deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to the elementary classrooms at 10 AM. Please share these with your students as you see appropriate.

Friday is a School Day

Due to our Monday holiday, this Friday is a student school day. Please remind our students and parents! Our Friday specialist's schedule will follow our regular Monday routine.

Friday Enrichment Proposals

Do you have a fun club or activity that you would like to host on a Friday Student Access Day? Please share your ideas.
