One of our paramount duties as educators is to ensure that we keep our students safe at all times.
Student supervision is the most fundamental aspect of school safety. Field trips provide extra exposure and require excellent supervision. Group your students into smaller, more manageable groups to help improve supervision. Always conduct regular "head counts" throughout your trip to ensure all participants are accounted for.
One safety system of extreme importance is the screening of volunteers. Before the field trip, all volunteers participating or attending must submit a volunteer packet to the district office for screening and approval. This includes those choosing to drive to the field trip.
Please stay out of the "gray area" by telling or implying to parents they can avoid completing the volunteer paperwork by showing up at the "public location" to join in the field trip.
Thank you for understanding and following this expectation.
