Good Monday Morning and Happy October!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful week. Last week was packed full of Homecoming festivities, it is always fun to see our high schoolers engaging in school.
Let's make this another great week! I encourage everyone to complete the Character Dare below; remember, positive words are contagious!
Diane helped FastBridge get our data and accounts back online! Great job, techie!
The K8 Lockdown drill was successfully managed!
Chelsea is continuing to provide great support through Community in School. Be sure to seek her help if any students need clothing, coats, or shoes.
Friday Access Day had a good turnout with 23 students. Thank you, Jo, Toni, Mandy, and Mark.
WSU School of Medicine's mentorship program launched with area 7th-grades at MWSD…a big thank you goes out to Ms. A and Nurse Sherri, both of whom helped present.
Middle School assembly went well with great respect and participation from all!
Some Instructional Round Highlights
Mrs. Ashbrook shared her exceptional lesson plans and data tracking forms.
Mrs. Neilson's morning workshop was working on their best-guess spelling.
Mrs. Stricker's direct instruction included some fun and engaging activities from Illustrative Math.
October's trait is:
Progress Report - ACTION NEEDED
Please be sure to get your first mid-quarter progress report out to families by the end of the week. Thank you for helping share the message that student learning is our top priority. Please connect with me if you need help with your mid-quarter progress report.
October is 'Bully Prevention Month' - ACTION NEEDED
The MS After School Leadership Club is covering all classroom doors with orange paper to launch our Bully Prevention Door Decorating contest. Please take some time to research ideas and help your students decorate your classroom door. Elementary students will decorate their classroom doors and middle school will decorate their advisory classroom doors.
You have this week to design and decorate your doors. Every door needs to have:
The definition of bullying in your student's own words,
A class compact or pledge with student and teacher signatures.
Here are some general definitions of bullying and some links to get started!
"Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance." ~ www.stopbullying.gov
"Bullying is when someone is hurt by unwanted words or actions, usually more than once and has a hard time stopping what is happening to them." ~https://www.pacerkidsagainstbullying.org/

K-5 Charger Assemblies - ACTION NEEDED
K-5 Charger Assemblies are this Thursday:
K-2 @ 2:00 - 2:30
3-5 @ 2:30 - 3:00
Please be sure to get your Lighthouse Cards into the front office. Additionally, please make contact with families to invite them to the assembly.
MTSS Updates
Seeing the dedicated intervention time being used so well has been fantastic! The para classroom support and middle school mentors bring great depth to the teaching and learning. Our interventions are forming up to be multidimensional…I am seeing solid small-group skill development lessons in the classroom, increased frequency of tier instruction, and great progress monitoring. Please keep up the excellent work as we continue to enhance our teaching and learning.
Para schedules will continue to be tweaked here and there to make sure we are using time efficiently. Please remember that push-in time is intended to help teachers run groups and provide targeted interventions.
Diane will be out Thursday, Oct. 5-Monday, Oct. 9 for her daughter's wedding. There is no sub scheduled, but she will make sure her groups are covered.
