K8 Weekly Memo

Good Monday Morning!  Last week, we had some heavy social/emotional needs for some of our students.  The organization and dedication of the student support team helped provide the needed support and resources to staff, parents, and students.  I greatly appreciate everyone on this team!

Formal Observation - Action Needed

The first formal observation was completed last Thursday.  Thank you, Mr. Rux for jumping in to be the first. This week, I need all certificated staff members to sign up for your fall formal observation.  Prior to your observation, I need to receive a copy of your lesson plan and any classroom data. We will then use the four critical questions of a PLC to guide our pre-observation conference.

  1. What do we want all students to know and be able to do?

  2. How will we know if they learn it?

  3. How will we respond when some students do not learn?

  4. How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

Halloween

Please be sure to include your classroom Halloween expectations in your weekly memos sent home.

  • Classroom Setup and Dress start after 2 PM

  • K5 Parade at 2:30 PM

  • Trunker Treat in the parking lot…please consider joining this festive community event.

Bully Prevention Month - Action Needed

This week, the Student Support Team will put the finishing touches on the bulletin board by the custodian closest.  This will include hand prints with all our students' names on it.  Please be expecting a classroom visitor to help gather these hands.

Today, the support team will select the winner of the door decorating contest.  This will be announced tomorrow!

The following ChacterDare could be a great addition to your classroom this week. I look forward to seeing the impact of this dare!

MTSS Updates

This week is SAEBRs week! This is the behavior/SEL screener within FastBridge.  All K-8 teachers need to complete screening questions about their students and 2nd-8th grade students complete self-assessments with the same log in they used before.Middle school students are assigned to their advisors.  Please see me or Rebecca if you need help.

Additionally, please make sure new students take the screening assessments. Even though we are outside the testing window and won't get normed scores, we can still get a performance baseline and identify students who need additional support as quickly as possible.

Remember that tier 2 push-in support is intended to help with differentiation and reteaching of core instruction. Please let me know if you need help finding leveled materials or guiding paras assigned to your room.
