Conferences
Bailey will have the conference schedule sheets laid out in the office this week. Please be sure to record any changes on the master sheet and mark specific conferences that you would like me to attend. Feel free to call(x4738) or text(919.0538) to invite me too!
As you plan for conferences, please guide the parents through the following points:
Smarter Balance Report: The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments are comprehensive, end-of-year assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics that are aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics and measure progress toward college and career readiness.
FastBridge Data: This assessment is taken during fall, winter, and spring. It is used to learn each student's reading and math skills and identify students needing additional instruction. Remember, some students participate in weekly progress monitoring that tracks reading and math improvements for those students participating in extra instruction. Remember, some students participate in weekly progress monitoring that tracks reading and math improvements for those students participating in extra instruction.
Report Card: The first quarter report card highlights student progress in each class. At the end of each semester, the grades are officially posted on students' transcripts. Students have the opportunity to increase their grades to the end of the semester.
Interventions: Share the supports and interventions students receive to help them improve their academic achievement.
Native American Heritage Month
"During National Native American Heritage Month, we celebrate Indigenous peoples past and present and rededicate ourselves to honoring Tribal sovereignty, promoting Tribal self-determination, and upholding the United States' solemn trust and treaty responsibilities to Tribal Nations." From The American Presidency Project, Proclamation—National Native American Heritage Month, 2022.
Please think about how you can take some time to honor Indigenous peoples of both past and present. The kitchen staff and Jamie are going to be celebrating Native American Heritage Day on November 28 with a tasty cuisine of Indian Fry Bread and bison lentil chili.
Deepen your discussions around indigenous peoples of America with the resources at CommonSense Education. Additionally, classroom resources and activities can be found at: www.nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov
Charger Assemblies
The Charger of the Month assemblies are just around the corner. MS on Nov. 30th and k5 on Dec. 7th. We'll get the new lighthouse cards out to you this week. Please be sure to notify and invite parents to the assemblies.
Blood Drive Nurse Sherri
We are having a blood drive on December 13th from 10:15 to 1PM. Vitalant is bringing a bus and will be parked out front. Please use the link below to sign up. Please share this with friends and family. We had 28 people donate during our Spring blood drive last year and our overall goal is 60 in order for the FFA program to get the financial benefit from hosting the drive. Please come out and donate and help us reach our goal of 60 units! See the flyer below for all details.
PLC@Work
How are your unit plans coming along? Do you need any help with your unit plans? Please be sure to work through each unit plan as thoroughly as possible. Remember, these are working documents.
The Tuesday and Wednesday's early dismissal schedules are listed below. All certificated staff will have one scheduled prep covered on one or the other day. Classified staff will need to adjust their supervision schedule to ensure we have adequate supervision at the earlier recess and lunchtime. I appreciate everyone's flexibility and help!
MTSS Updates
We have put MTSS bags together for each family. They contain program information and some learning materials. They are distributed to the youngest sibling in a family. For middle school kids without younger siblings, the information is attached to their FastBridge reports. We will be delivering these on Monday!
I printed Family Reports and Bailey added them to grades. If a kid is missing, let me know. It may be because they did not complete their fall testing. I also have FastBridge and MTSS info for families who did not receive it from younger siblings.
THANK YOU to Crystal, Bea, and Mandy for helping with this project.
Please be aware of noise level in the hall outside our room. We hear A LOT of conversations and yelling, even with doors closed.
Also, please remind kids to leave candy and gum behind when they come to group. Thanks!
