K8 Weekly Memo

Last week was sure an adventure!   I appreciate everyone's dedication and commitment to maintaining the best for our kids.  The Trunker or Treat and Halloween Parade and Parties were excellent.   I am thankful for the extra hour of rest this weekend.

Points of Interest

SAEBRS: Action Needed

If you have not completed your classroom SAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) screening, please do so by the end of this week.  This data is exceptionally helpful for our student support and MTSS team.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Notice in Weekly Memo - Action Needed

Please be sure to get your conference invites out to families!

Additionally, be sure to include in your weekly memo that our Parent-teacher conferences have been pushed back to the week of Thanksgiving.  We will have a full student day on November 20th and then half days on the 21st and 22nd.

- November 20th: Full day, conferences from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

- November 21st (12:30 PM student release): Conferences from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM

- November 22nd (12:30 PM student release): Conferences from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM

Observations and Artifacts (Newsletter and Unit Planning) Action Needed

I am just over halfway through my fall formal observations.

In addition to lesson plans and data, I am looking to collect evidence of parent communication.  Please share with me this week's classroom newsletter.

Also, as you complete your current PLC@Work unit plan, please send me a link to the document to review (Your email will be a prompt that you are finished with planning for that unit.)

New Quarter- Action Needed

Please update your emergency lesson plans with Ms. Bailey.  These have proven helpful. We want to be sure we have somewhat current work and lessons in case of an emergency absence.

Tuesday's PLC Time

This Tuesday at 7:15 our Building Committees will be meeting.  You can review the committee lists and rolling agendas in our staff handbook.  Here is a link to the Shared Leadership section.

October Timesheets Due

Please submit your October timesheets or extra hours to Bailey by the end of day tomorrow.

Clubs or Friday Activities

This week, Ms. Becca will be launching the middle school native club. Ms. Smith is coordinating an outdoor club. And Erin and McKensie are hosting our MS after-school leadership club.

Are you interested in coordinating a club or activity? Drama, STEM, EGeneration Sports, Spelling Bee, Youth Sports, etc. Please meet with me to share your interests or ideas.

Health Update

We have had two cases of confirmed covid this last week. One student is in middle school and one in elementary school.  We have one staff member in the K8 building confirmed this week. Also, we have had four confirmed cases of hand, foot, and mouth in the elementary school.  We continue to see a moderate amount of upper respiratory illnesses in the health room. Runny nose, headache, congestion and fever.

Character Strong: Action Needed

As we build up our Tier One supports for Character Strong, there is a big push to continue these conversations throughout the week. Please incorporate these SEL lessons into Monday mornings and continue the weekly topic into other lessons and interactions. This is a great opportunity after the weekend to start the day together, and remind our students of classroom culture and routines. Thank you for all your hard work to get this curriculum out to our students!

Character trait of the month is Gratitude. Encourage students to practice gratitude as a class, towards each other and their family. Showing appreciation for one another can go a long way!

Here is the link for teachers to report any students they have concern for. This can be academic, behavior, attendance, social emotional, etc. All responses can be seen by our Student Support Team, so we can provide appropriate support!

Report a concern to SST

MTSS Updates

With some help from Jessie and Crystal, I have added a number of student book sets to the ones on the spreadsheet. They are for younger readers in general and cover nonfiction content and winter/holiday themes. The link is included here and you can also search "book sets" in the google drive.  Book Sets
