Good Morning K8 Team,
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful and joyful Thanksgiving break filled with moments to recharge and reflect. As we dive back into the rhythm of school life, let’s focus on making every moment count during this holiday season.. Yes, it is December!
This time of year brings excitement and energy, and it’s a great opportunity to channel that into meaningful learning experiences for our students. Let’s continue to maximize instruction, keeping routines strong and engagement high, so we can make the most of the time we have before winter break.
Thank you for your dedication to our students and for the passion you bring to your classrooms every day. Let’s finish this year strong—together!

MTSS Behavior Academy
I’m excited to share that our Behavior Academies on Social Skills is now up and running! Over the next three weeks, our 3rd-5th grade students will attend two sessions per week, focusing on key social skills to support their growth and success.
This week, the topics are:
Social Awareness: Developing the ability to notice, understand, and appropriately respond to social cues, unwritten rules, and interactions.
Self-Awareness: Building the ability to recognize and understand personal thoughts, feelings, perspectives, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations, and how to respond to various situations.
Thank you for supporting this important work as we continue to help our students thrive socially and emotionally!
Christmas Events - Action Needed
We’re gearing up for a magical Family Night Out on December 12th, featuring STEAM and craft activities in Santa’s Workshops, cozy holiday story rooms, and plenty of cocoa and cookies! To make it unforgettable, we need your help—whether it’s assisting with activities, hosting a story room, managing treats, or helping with setup and cleanup. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so soon, as we need to finalize supply orders this week. Let’s work together to create a truly special night for our students and families!
Christmas Song Sign-Up Link
Please select two Christmas songs for your grade level to sing during our Sing-Along Concert, ensuring they’re available on YouTube for audience participation!
"Always Serve P.I.E."
I sure enjoy serving pie with Matt, Darci and Krystin last week. The PBIS theme "Always Serve P.I.E." provides a simple and effective framework for guiding student behavior and fostering a positive school environment through intentional interactions.
P: Positive Specific Feedback – Start by acknowledging what a student is doing well. Highlight their positive actions with clear, specific feedback to reinforce good behavior.
I: Identify Specific Behavior and Intervene – When addressing challenges, pinpoint the exact behavior that needs improvement and address it constructively. This ensures clarity and promotes understanding.
E: End with Encouragement and Tie to Expectations – Conclude the interaction on an uplifting note, emphasizing how the student’s efforts align with school-wide expectations. Encouragement helps motivate continued progress.
This approach ensures that feedback is constructive, behavior is addressed clearly, and students feel supported and encouraged to grow within the framework of the school’s expectations.
Student Access Days
Please remind families in your weekly memo that we have Student Access Days scheduled for the next three Fridays. These days offer tutoring, guided homework help, craft activities, and games to support and engage our students.
Charger Assembly
December 12th is our Charger Assembly. Please select your Charger of the Month students.
Additionally, I need referrals for the IMACT award by the end of the week. This award is given by the tribe to students who demonstrate strong leadership qualities and values. The goal is for these award are to boost student morale, encourage positive behavior, and build self-esteem. Fully funded by the 477 Program, this award allows us to celebrate even more students at our regular assemblies.
IMPACT stands for the following:
I – Integrity
M – Motivation
P – Purpose
A – Academics
C – Community
T – Teamwork
MS Athletic Release
Please only release student-athletes once Bailey makes the announcement over the intercom system. Bailey will only make the announcement, once a coach as checked into the office to pick up their athletes. This will help ensure proper supervision.
Character Trait of the Month
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to recharge their batteries for this eventful month ahead!
We have rearranged several groups that visit the MTSS room and Walk to Interventions. Thank you so much teachers for your involvement in that process. I value your input so much,so thank you for taking the time to meet and discuss the needs of our students! We only have 3 weeks to make as many gains with them as we can!
We are super excited to add some behavior supports as well! Last week we had our meet and greets with the 3-5 grade students who were selected to participate in these groups. We will be picking those groups up twice a week through December. These groups will all follow a curriculum that focuses on social skills. I have also picked up a couple elementary students to do Check-in/Check-outs with.
I just want to take a minute to say thank you everyone for your patience and understanding with me as I’ve been learning the FastBridge system and its interventions and progress monitoring, the reading supports that were in place and making adjustments to them as I Iearn (especially from the LETRS course), adding the math component from the start of the year, and now incorporating the behavior academies. I appreciate what you all do and want to support you and your students the best I can.
Let's have a fantastic December!
