Thoughtful Reflection

What is a Morning Meeting? Morning meetings are a classroom management practice used to address students' social-emotional learning needs daily. Every morning, teachers gather their students in a circle (for 15 to 30 minutes) to interact with one another and kick-off the day. A great routine is Greeting, Sharing, Activity, and a Morning Message. This 15-30 minute routine will greatly enhance your teaching and learning.

THE CHARGER PROMISE

"We, as a community, will develop confident, well rounded, and sought after graduates who are prepared for the future"

POINTS OF INTEREST

Coach Vince Here on Thursday - ACTION NEEDED

Vince will be here on Thursday to review assessment data from FastBridge.  In preparation for his visit, please have the following prepared:

  • Your FastBridge screening report (either printed or on your computer)

  • Screening for Intervention information

  • Recommendations for Whole Group Instruction

Bully Prevention Month - ACTION NEEDED

For this week's bully prevention activity, please take time to discuss how students can report bullying at school and home.  Below is a link to a poster that can help guide the conversation.   https://www.pacer.org/bullying/classroom/elementary/activities/how-to-tell-an-adult.asp

Solution Room

The solution room is staffed for lunch detentions, teacher-scheduled sensory breaks, and referral discipline.  Some middle school students have migrated there to skip classes; this is not okay.  Additionally, an ISS can only be assigned after I process a referral.  Please contact me directly if you have a referral that you need to be immediately processed.

TPEP Goal Setting

On Friday's LID, we will review our SBAC and FastBrdge data to help provide the baseline for our student growth goals.  Here are some helpful links to review regarding student growth goals:

Extra Work from Kitchen

Our Kitchen staff is exceptionally helpful and committed to going the extra mile for our students.  It isn't easy to see them do extra work that is not used.  When ordering field trip lunches, please provide accurate numbers and make sure our students eat the lunches.  Thank you.

Great ShakeOut

More info to come, but in general, this standard drill and evacuation uses simple steps to inform all teachers and students how to perform Drop, Cover, and Hold On – a quake-safe action designed to protect lives and prevent injuries from falling furniture and flying objects than can become projectiles during ground shaking. Teachers and students will then evacuate the building according to the school disaster plan, as required for a quarterly or semi-annual earthquake safety drill.

We are in an area with a very limited risk of earthquakes; however, this drill will help our students understand how to respond in the event they are in a location where an earthquake happens.

Character Strong:

  • K-5 (Purposeful People) Moving through Responsibility. We should be covering week 3, and completing this character trait by the end of October. Gratitude is the character trait we will start in November.

  • 6-8 (Character Strong) By the end of October, we should be finishing lesson 9. For November, we will cover lessons 10-14.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States. Support our families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug free youth. Please participate in our Red Ribbon Spirit week starting next Monday.

Monday: Red Out (Wear Red)

Tuesday: Peace Out Drugs

Wednesday: PJ Day

Thursday: School Spirit Day

MTSS Updates

  • Testing is completed in most grades other than SAEBRS

  • We have push-in support for grades K-5.

  • Tier 2 groups have been created in two classrooms.

  • Please return headphones when done with them. I am missing two boxes!

  • Let Diane know how she can help!  She would love to set a time with individual teachers to plan for strategies, groups, and progress monitoring.
