K8 Weekly Memo

This last week, Mrs. Moss had a nice share on social media that I thought was worthwhile for our weekly memo!

"I recently learned of a term called a "glimmer."  Which is essentially the opposite of a trigger.

Glimmers are those micro-moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace, or gratitude.  Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, the more these tiny moments will begin to appear. "

So, this week, think about a twinkle, shimmer, or flicker of joy from your classroom.  I will be reaching back out for a share on this topic.

Thank you, Mrs. Moss, for seeking out more glimmers!

Appreciation

The Kindergarten and 1st-grade team took a busload of littles to the Hidden Acres Orchard in Green Bluff for a fall festive field trip.  The students, parents, and staff all had a wonderful time.  Thank you (Toni, Katie, Lindsey, and Amanda) for providing such great experiences to your students.

Additionally, Heidi coordinated the first MS Outdoor Club hike.  She took 31 students up Quartzite Mountain in Chewelah.  This 3-mile summit hike provides stunning views of Chewelah!

Thank you, Ms. Smith, Mrs. Rose, and Sherri G., for taking these kids out!

Points of Interest

Charger of the Month - Action Needed

Please email or call the parents/guardians of the student you are honoring for Charger of the Month.  The Lighthouse card will be placed in your mailbox today.  Please complete it and return it to the office so the Charger of the Month certificate can be printed.

Parent-teacher conferences has been pushed back to the week of Thanksgiving.  We will have full student days on November 20th and 21st with evening conferences.  Then, students will have a half day on November 22nd and conferences until 3:30.

Bully Prevention Doors

Thank you for participating in the Bully Prevention Month.  The classroom doors look amazing. The door winners are: Toni, Gearhart, Moss! Look for pictures of these doors in the community memo!

Class Spirit Contest

This week, the class wearing the most Charger shirts will be able to dress me up as a Zombie for Halloween.  Please encourage your students to wear their charger shirts this Thursday.  Do you have any new students who did not receive a Charger Shirt?  If so, please connect with Ms. Bailey.

Student ID Cards

Bailey will hand out the student ID cards this week.  These cards are legal photo identification for students and can be used when families sign up for services, apply for passports, and more!  Please remind your students that these cards are legal photo id's that should be saved.

Controlled Access

Starting in November, we will lock our front doors at 8:10 AM and use the door buzzer systems to open the doors to our guests.  Your staff identification card has been programmed and will open the front doors for you.  Additional buzzer systems will be installed at other doors in our building.  All of these systems can be activated with ID card. More information to come.

Family Night Out

This week is our first Family Night Out event.  We have several volunteers helping to make this fun night possible.  Chelsea will coordinate the family pumpkin decorating activity, Jessica from WSU is coordinating the science lab activities, and Katt and crew are making our delicious lasagna dinner!  Thank you to everyone for helping and attending!

Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween

Springdale K8 and Springdale Community Church are hosting a Trunk-or-Treat community event on Halloween.  Please consider joining this festive event by decorating your trunk as a trick-or-treat spot.

I would like to borrow a few Halloween books to read at my campfire as students roast their hot dogs.  Please loan me any that you may have in your classroom library!

MTSS

Thanks everyone for jumping on SAEBRs testing!

As kindergarten completes WA Kids and gets ready to start interventions, we will be making adjustments to our support schedule. I also recognize that we need to make adjustments as we get to know our students better. Thanks to everyone for communicating with me!
