Happy New Year! As we start this 2024 year, I encourage you to reflect on your significant impact on our student's lives. You are making a difference as you help mold and shape every student! I appreciate your dedication and commitment to student learning.
We know getting back into the swing of things can be challenging, particularly after winter break! Please stay committed to the PBIS Charger Card incentive and our building expectations.
This week will be bumpy for some students as they readjust to school expectations and routines. Be sure to include some light and fun activities to help our students get back into a learning mindset…sharing time and fun academic reviews are two easy ways to help engage your students.
Please take time to review your classroom expectations, as well as the school-wide expectations, to help our students settle back into the school routine. This could be modeling and roleplaying expectations where appropriate!
Character Strong
Our character trait for January is Perseverance. We define this by "pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles". Encourage students and yourself to focus on their goals and next steps to accomplish them.
Please be sure to start your week with your Character Strong lessons.
No Cell Phones Expectations
Please be exceptionally diligent in supporting the school cell phone expectations.
We understand that many students have phones for family contact and emergency use; however, due to digital content issues, harassment, and inappropriate use, we have a no-cell phone policy during school hours.
Cell phones may be brought to the K8 school if kept off and out of sight during the school day. Students may use their cell phones before (8:05 AM) and after school (3:30 PM). The K8 office phone is available for use by students for emergencies. Additionally, parents may call the K8 office at 258.7357 to leave a message for their child.
Staff Absence Policy
Pre-Planned Absence: Please use the Employee Absence Report sheet for any planned absences. Sub-coverage is available on a first-come basis for personal leave, so submitting your leave sheet as soon as possible would be highly beneficial.
Calling in Sick: Please call or text all "sick day" calls to my work cell phone number (509.919.0538). These calls need to be made as soon as possible each morning.
Winter Benchmark Assessment
Starts next week. Please watch for a specific email on this topic!
K-5 Charger Assembly
The K-5 Charger Assembly is moved to next week, Thursday, January 11th.
School Board Appreciation Month
Please think about how we can show our appreciation to the school board. We will discuss this more at the LID staff meeting on Friday.
Additionally, the school board meetings have been moved to the 3rd Thursday of the month.
MTSS
Our FastBridge benchmarking window opens Jan 8 and we need to have all testing completed by Jan. 19.
SAEBRs and My SAEBRs need to be completed during this window.
Kindergarten and first grade tests are administered individually; second and third grade also have an individual component.
We will do our best to maintain intervention groups. I will connect with teachers impacted by this.
If you need a refresher or have questions, feel free to contact me or access information at this link: Fast Bridge
We hope to have another data review day on Jan. 23. Stay tuned for further info!
