Dear K8 Team,
I can’t believe we’re already halfway through the year! I want to take a moment to thank you for everything you’ve done to make this first half so successful. The effort you’ve put into supporting our students, building relationships, and tackling challenges is making a real difference. I see it every day—in our school, within our team, and in the lives of our kids and their families.
As we dive into the second half of the year, let’s keep that energy and positivity going strong. Thank you for showing up for our students and community with dedication and heart every single day.
I’m so grateful to work with such an incredible team!
Please include basic levy information in your weekly communications with classroom families. It’s important to share general details and encourage families to participate in the voting process. Remember, while we can provide information and emphasize the importance of voting, we cannot use school time or resources to advocate for a specific vote outcome.
Thank you for helping to keep our families informed!
Thank you for…School Board Appreciation Items
Thank you for everyone stepping up to help create thoughtful cards and gifts for our school board. Below is the video created with all the images that you shared with me.
A-T-T-E-N-D-A-N-C-E
The A-T-T-E-N-D-A-N-C-E posters are part of our efforts to improve school attendance. Please highlight this campaign with your class and encourage students to make every day count. As we continue working on attendance improvement:
Reach out to families to understand and address any barriers to attendance.
Students with extremely chronic absences (24+ days) will not be counted in the class totals once families have been contacted.
Focus on supporting "bubble students" who are close to falling into the extremely chronic category.
Religious holidays will not count against class attendance totals.
Thank you for helping us emphasize the importance of being present every day!
CharacterStrong / Purposeful People (Action Needed)
Please be sure to complete your weekly lesson.
New Face in the Halls:
Scott Flinders will be joining our school this winter to complete his EWU teacher observations and will transition to student teaching in the spring. He will primarily be working in Ms. Gearhart’s classroom but will also lend a hand with MTSS. Please take a moment to give him a warm welcome and help him feel at home in our school community!
Securing the Building (Action Needed)
The main doors are not closing fully, and while replacements are in progress, it will take some time. Please ensure:
You pull the doors shut when exiting.
The second set of doors need to be secured and locked too!
Thank you for your diligence in keeping our building secure.
Four Day School Week: School on Friday
This week we have a regular school day on Friday. Please remind your students and include a notice in your weekly memo.
Semester Grades (Action Needed)
The quarter ends on January 23. Please ensure grades are entered into Skyward by end of day Sunday, January 26. Encourage parents to check Skyward for updated grades.
FastBridge Testing (Action Needed)
Please wrap up FastBridge testing and ensure SEABRS testing is completed as well.
Charger Assemblies, January 30 (Action Needed)
1. Student Selections: Please let Bailey know your selected students for January’s Charger Assembly by the end of the week.
2. IMPACT Award Referrals: Kristyn needs your referrals for the IMPACT Award by Friday. This award, fully funded by the 477 Program, recognizes students who demonstrate leadership and strong values. The goal is to boost morale, encourage positive behavior, and build self-esteem.
IMPACT stands for the following:
I – Integrity
M – Motivation
P – Purpose
A – Academics
C – Community
T – Teamwork
It’s been so awesome watching all the FastBridge data come in and see the growth the students have made! Hopefully all the testing will be completed by Wednesday and our Great Growth Race Challenge will be completed! My room will still be open for kids testing, so feel free to send them down. My team will be meeting in the morning to discuss finishing up testing, recording data, and who will be available to work with kids this week. There are lots of dots going up and I’m excited to see who the winners are! Don’t forget to have your students complete the MySAERS and teachers need to complete the SAEBRS. DATA DAY FOR K-5 IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 23. You will be getting the rotating sub schedule tomorrow! Have a great week everyone!
