I’m excited to kick off another week of amazing teaching and learning together! Ending last week with our LID day was such a gift—it was wonderful to connect during PLC and staff meeting time and see the collaboration happening across our school.
As we step into this new week, I want to encourage you to continue greeting our students each day with encouragement and kindness. Your dedication and positive energy are making a lasting difference in their lives. Thank you for all that you do to inspire and support our students. Let’s make it a great week!
You’ve got this!
The Mary Walker School District is excited to announce the upcoming EP&O Levy Renewal Election on February 11, 2025.
If you’re not yet registered to vote, there’s still time to make your voice heard! Please encourage family and friends to register to vote!
Visit votewa.gov to register today.
This week during instructional rounds, I will be looking for examples of direct instruction that help students effectively interact with new knowledge. Please review the Marzano description below!
Cards in Office
Bailey will be placing a few cards in the office for staff to sign. Be sure to stop by and add a kind or encouraging note—or simply leave your John Hancock!
School Board Appreciation Month
Please collaborate with your team (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8) to create a poster or card for Board Appreciation. There will also be a staff card available in the office for everyone to sign.
Additionally, I’d love to include pictures from your classroom in our short K-8 video. Please share any you’d like featured.
Thank you for your help in making this a meaningful gesture!
A-T-T-E-N-D-A-N-C-E (Action Needed)
Please take a moment to introduce the A-T-T-E-N-D-A-N-C-E goal to your class. You’ll receive two posters—one for your classroom entrance and another for display inside your room.
Student Access Days (Action Needed)
Please encourage students who are struggling or falling behind on coursework to attend our Friday Access Days. Including this reminder in your weekly communications is a great way to ensure families are aware of this valuable opportunity.
FastBridge Testing (Action Needed)
Please ensure that all FastBridge testing is completed this week. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to Darci or me for support.
Summer Institute
This summer the solution tree conference is August 13-15 in Spokane. Please let me know if you would like to attend.
Custodial Help (Action Needed)
With our custodial team down a member, we could really use some extra hands to keep our school looking great. By encouraging every student to pitch in, we can maintain clean and organized spaces while lightening the load for our custodial staff.
Here’s how we can make it happen:
Empty Trash: Take classroom trash to the gondola by the 5th-grade bathroom.
Tidy the Room: Pick up all items and trash from the floor.
Organize Supplies: Neatly put away all school supplies and resources.
Stack Chairs: Place chairs in stacks or on desks.
Roy will be covering our day time custodian position for the rest of this month. He wanted to give you a shout out!
“Howdy Chargers! I just want to say that you guys have been amazing the past month with helping clean up! It saves all of our custodians time in the evening when cleaning! I do want to say a special thank you to the two middle school girls that volunteer to help wipe down tables in the cafeteria at lunch! You guys are tremendous and I’m so thankful that you do what you do and that shouldn’t go unnoticed! Please keep up the good work and help keep our wonderful school clean!”
