Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I was grateful for the chance to sneak away with my family, connect with my brother, and celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. A huge thank you to all for keeping things running smoothly while I was out!
Last week was full of great moments—Nurse Sherri’s vaccination clinic was a success, Ms. Gearhart’s efforts in launching the Enjoy the Journey of Reading campaign are inspiring, and the Parent-to-Parent Advisory got off to an incredible start! These are just a few examples of the dedication and teamwork that make our school such a special place.
Let’s keep the momentum going for another great week!
As we begin the second week of our "Enjoy the Journey of Reading" initiative, I want to encourage everyone to keep promoting reading in your classrooms. Mrs. Gearhard has shared reading strategy posters, and we ask that you highlight and model these strategies during free reading time and, when appropriate, incorporate them into your Wonders lessons. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!
High School Wrestlers on to State
Huge congratulations to our wrestling team—seven athletes are headed to state! The send-off is Thursday at 9 AM—stay tuned for details in the school announcements. Let’s cheer them on!
Technology Device Storage
Teachers, please make sure all devices are properly stored in their charging carts each day. If a device is damaged, report it to Mike immediately. Let’s keep our tech safe and ready for learning—thanks for making this a daily habit!
Snow Reminder! - (Action Needed)
With all the winter fun, please help reinforce our school rules about snow. Remind students that snow stays on the ground—no throwing, kicking, or rough play. Safety comes first, and we want everyone to enjoy the season without injuries. Thank you for your help in keeping recess safe and fun!
Note From Nurse Sherri
Influenza A activity is increasing across Washington State, with cases reported in all regions. Hospitalizations and flu-related deaths are also on the rise. Please continue to take precautions—encourage handwashing, proper hygiene, and staying home when feeling unwell. Your health and the health of our students matter!
Symptoms:
Fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, and fatigue.
Prevention:
Get vaccinated against influenza.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
Stay home from work or school if you are sick.
Treatment:
Antiviral medications can help treat influenza A.
Most people recover from influenza A without needing medical treatment.
See a doctor if you have severe symptoms or are at risk for complications.
Presidents’ Day - (Action Needed)
For many students, Presidents Day is just a day off. Please remind them that it’s a time to honor the leadership and service of our nation’s presidents. Originally celebrating George Washington’s birthday, it now recognizes all who have shaped our country. May we find inspiration in their dedication and resilience.
I need your help! Pictures Please - (Action Needed)
Thank you to everyone who has shared pictures of engaged learning! Please keep them coming—I’ll be incorporating these images into my Smores. Your support is truly appreciated!
Math Instructional Rounds
Deb won’t be in the building this week, but our classroom visits will continue as planned. We’re focusing on warm-ups, lesson activities, and student engagement—keep up the great work with Illustrative Mathematics!

Welcome back to winter! My daughter Raina qualified for state in wrestling! I’m so proud of her! With that, I will be going with the team to cheer them on. Tuesday and Wednesday will be normal days in the MTSS room, but Thursday and Friday I not be pulling groups. I am uncertain at this time if there will be a substitute for me. So sorry for any interruption that this might cause, I hope everyone understands.
