K8 Staff Memo

Cold and flu season is hitting hard, and I truly appreciate all you’re doing to stay healthy while keeping your classrooms running smoothly. Our students rely on you every day, and your care, dedication, and expertise make a lasting impact.

It’s been inspiring to see the intentional steps you’re taking to connect with our struggling students. This week, we are launching new Behavior Academies—an exciting next step in providing targeted support. The development of a focused PLC dedicated to identifying and assisting students through these small groups is a testament to the heart and commitment of this team. Your willingness to adapt, collaborate, and create meaningful interventions is making a difference.

As we move forward, let’s continue to lift each other up and celebrate the progress we see, no matter how small. Thank you for all that you do—your hard work does not go unnoticed!

Let’s make it a great week!

Brett

Just for fun!

Thank you for all the knowledge and hardwork you bring to our school each day.

Bust best of all, our team attitude is what makes Springdale K8 truly special!

Your Help is Needed with the Levy!

Today is the final day to register to vote online, but in-person registration remains open until 8 PM on February 11. Please continue to speak positively about our levy and school programs, and encourage everyone to get out and vote!

A striking statistic from a federal economic study on communities highlights a troubling reality: while 15.3% of the U.S. population and 2.8% of Washington’s population live in what’s considered a distressed community, all three primary zip code in our school district falls into this category.

This classification is based on seven critical factors:

    •    The percentage of adults without a high school diploma,

    •    The poverty rate,

    •    The number of working-age adults not employed,

    •    The housing vacancy rate,

    •    Median income levels,

    •    Changes in both employment, and the number of businesses over the past five years

These factors paint a clear picture of the challenges our community faces and underscore the urgent need for targeted support and intervention.  We need our levy to support our kids.

Each week out student success team meets on Tuesday at 10AM to review tier supports around social/emotional and behavioral needs of our students. Parent Communication

Strong parent communication is essential to the work we do. Thank you for consistently sending home weekly memos and keeping parents informed. Please continue reaching out when concerns arise, but also look for opportunities to make positive phone calls home.

I recently spoke with a frustrated parent who had no idea their child was nominated for an award. Let’s ensure that all parents, K-8, are notified when their child is selected as a Charger of the Month. These are the easy and rewarding calls that strengthen our home-school connection!

A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words

I’m working to enhance our community memos and would love your help! Please share engaging images and videos that showcase the amazing learning happening in your classrooms. My goal is to feature six pictures per week, and I need your help to make it happen!

Look for opportunities to capture:

  • Students engaged in hands-on learning

  • Small group work and collaboration

  • Active, real-world applications of learning

Videos work great, too! Feel free to email or text me your best shots.

Building Leadership Team

The BLT will meet tomorrow to review upcoming events, including Dinner & Dialogue with SPED, School-Wide Fundraiser, Pi Night, Read Across America, and more. If you have any items to discuss, please connect with me or your hall representative.

FYI: BLT meetings occur the Tuesday before each LID day.

Instructional Rounds w/ Deb

Deb will be in the building this Thursday to conduct instructional rounds. I’m organizing a schedule that will allow us to focus on the Warm-Up portion of your IM lesson.

  • February 6: We will visit your classrooms to observe your IM warm-up. During these short 12-15 minute rounds, we’ll focus on how the warm-up is being launched and the level of student-teacher engagement.

  • February 19: This visit will offer teachers the chance to either volunteer to be observed or to observe their peers. It’s a great opportunity to share and learn from each other’s instructional practices.

LID Day

This week is our LID day.  The 3-5 team will be hosting a break fast for our K8 building’s staff meeting.  The staff meeting will be the first hour and then PLC and more team time in the afternoon.  More information is to come.

School Wide Fundraiser

I’m working with our parent group to organize a school-wide fundraiser! Here’s the plan:

πŸ“… Launch Date: February 21
πŸ—“️ Sales Window: 10 days
πŸ“¦ Delivery Coordination: To be scheduled
πŸͺ Cookie Pickup: During Pi Night

More details will be shared soon—thank you for your support in making this a success!

MTSS News

Here we are, at the start of a new month! Most of the FastBridge data is in and the majority of the data wall is complete! There is a lot of amazing growth on display! I will be around to coordinate a time to stop by your classrooms and honor students who made incredible progress and those that stayed on track!

If you haven’t completed the teacher portion of SABRS yet please work on getting that completed this week, as it provides valuable information for our Student Support Team.

My schedule will be impacted this week quite a bit. My daughter has an appointment Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday I will be in Solution Tree training, so I won’t be available for groups those days. Thursday I will be tagging along with Deb while she’s here so I’m unsure of exactly what my day will look like group wise that day.

Have a great week everyone!
