 Good Monday Morning!

I hope you all had a restful weekend! As we dive into the week, let’s keep our focus on consistency, connection, and care—for our students and for each other. Your dedication is seen and appreciated, and the impact you’re making is real.

Let’s make it a great week!  Now, onto a few important updates…

Enjoy the Journey of Reading - Week Four

This week, we wrap up our "Enjoy the Journey of Reading" campaign by celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week!  His stories inspire creativity, wisdom, and the courage to be ourselves. Throughout the week, students will enjoy special activities, guest readers, and fun literary adventures. Families, take time to read together, share stories, and embrace the magic of books!

Points of Interest

K-8 Levy Focus Meeting

This Tuesday after school, we will hold a K-8 Levy Focus Meeting for all classified and certificated staff who would like to join. This voluntary meeting will provide updates on the April 22nd Special Election for the EP&O Levy. Let’s meet in Sidney’s classroom—I hope to see you there!

Pi Night being Pushed Back

Our Annual Pi Night Celebration is being pushed back to the week before spring break.  More information to come.

Informal Observations:

During informal observations, I will focus on Criterion 2: Demonstrating Effective Teaching Practices, including direct instruction, practice, and knowledge application. I’ll also look at how teachers engage reluctant learners, use academic vocabulary, and probe student thinking. My goal is to highlight strengths and support ongoing growth.

Solution Room – Student Work Needed(Action Needed)

Please ensure that students sent to the Solution Room have adequate academic work to complete. I understand this is an added step, but it’s important they remain engaged while there. Consider sending:

  • An unread passage from the Wonders curriculum,

  • Extra math practice from the IL workbooks, or

  • A writing prompt to reinforce short responses or narrative writing.

Your support is greatly appreciated in keeping this space productive for students!

Interim Smarker Balance Assessment (Action Needed)

Over the next two week, Interim Smarter Balanced assessment in ELA and Math need to be given to all 3rd to 8th grade students.   The Interim Smarter Balanced assessment helps teachers track student progress, identify areas for support, and adjust instruction to prepare students for the year-end summative assessment.  It also gives students a test-drive of the assessment and helps reduce stress and concern of the final assessment.

Portal for accessing the interim assessment.

Released iteams that can be used for entry tasks.

Outside Safety – Mud Season is Here

With the snow and ice nearly gone, mud has taken its place! Please help keep students (and our school) clean by encouraging them to stay off the muddy and shaggy areas of the playground. Thank you for your help!

School Fundraiser Postponed

To keep our focus on the upcoming Levy, we have decided to postpone our school-wide ASB fundraiser. I appreciate everyone’s help in coordinating this event, and I will share an updated timeline soon.

Paper Usage & Costs

We began the year with 60 cases of paper and have now ordered 40 more. Each case contains 10 reams and costs $45.29. In addition, we have our copier expenses, so please be mindful and resourceful when making copies. Let’s work together to ensure we’re using our resources wisely!

Custodial Team – Thank You!

Our custodial team truly appreciates everyone’s efforts in keeping our school clean! Thank you for stacking chairs, picking up the floor, and removing trash at the end of each day. Your help makes a big difference!

Student Friday Access Day

Please be sure to invite any struggling students or individuals who may need a little extra support to this Friday’s Student Access Day.
